Alcohol Raises Chance of Hemorrhoids

Everyone knows that drinking excessively can cause a number of issues, but few people think to link drinking to hemorrhoids.  However, in addition to damaging the stomach, liver, and even brain cells, alcohol irritates the pancreas and the digestive track.  Because of inflammation and other issues, alcohol can increase the transit time of food to the intestines and the rectum.  This interferes with food absorption and can lead to a variety of things, including hemmroids.  However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a nice glass of wine or a beer now and then.  Just remember to drink responsibly.  According to health professionals, the liver can metabolize only a half of an ounce of ethanol every hour.  This translates to 12 ounces of beer or four ounces of wine.
